Stop by and see our pollinator habitat where a variety of plants, bugs, and butterflies grow from March through October. Take a picture of any bug (or other animal) you find and upload it to iNaturalist, a citizen scientist website where we track the biodiversity of our habitat. We celebrate God's amazing creation, as we help restore native species to our area, offset greenhouse gas emissions with plant growth, and make the world a more beautiful place. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Switzer and the Urban Butterfly Initiative for all their help with this project. A 2022 grant from Faith in Place funded the first stages of our pollinator habitat.
Spiritual Growth
We nourish spiritual growth through our worship together, where we share our joys and concerns, offer our prayers and praise to God, and read and discuss scripture. We also have prayer stations or prayer vigils at different times throughout the school year. We grow through short-term small groups or Bible studies, too. When we serve others, we grow in our faith and practice compassion and selflessness. Every year during spring break, we take a mission trip for part of the week, to offer ourselves in service. We also do local service projects throughout the school year, based on what students' interests are.
Nourishing People's Bodies
We know that we grow relationships best when we are comfortable and have our needs met. We want students to know they are cared for as whole people, so we offer free dinner on Sunday nights, along with some fun activities afterward, and free lunch on Tuesdays at noon (new this year!). We love for students to participate in making a meal, so let us know if you want to do some cooking or help serve lunch or supper any week! Church groups often bring us our Sunday Suppers, and Tuesday Lunch Bunch is just us and anyone in the EIU community who wants to stop by!
